Retail Platform Supply Chain Decisions under Capacity Constraints
Research assistant · since June 2024 NSFC General Program (No. 72171178) · Advisor: Prof. Bin Dai Capacity-Constrained Channel Decisions, Capacity Allocation, and Pricing for Retail Platform Supply Chains with Strategic Consumers
What the project studies
How a retail platform makes channel, capacity-allocation, and pricing decisions when capacity is constrained and consumers behave strategically — and how information disclosure can be designed when the platform holds private information.
Training and activities
- Operations research camp — modeling under strategic consumer behavior; applying signaling games and passive-belief equilibrium to information-disclosure problems under asymmetric information; working with LaTeX and Mathematica. Presented a replication of Disclosing Endogenous Cost Information (Xu Jiang, Yan Xiong, The Accounting Review), including the reordered-game solution approach.
- Weekly research group — read 20+ papers from the UTD-24 list, covering CSR operations, strategic consumers, endogenous signaling games, and AI. Framed research questions from everyday observations and reviewed the quality-signaling literature.
- Optimization training — convex optimization foundations, nonlinear programming via KKT conditions, and traveling-salesman problems solved with Gurobi. Presented Optimal Retail Location: Empirical Methodology and Application to Practice (Marshall Fisher et al., M&SOM).
